As Friends of the Island we are elated that the City of Châteauguay is proceeding with the purchase of the portion of Ile Saint-Bernard being sold by the Sisters of Charity of Montreal also known as the Grey Nuns.

We believe that this is an exceptional opportunity for our community to create a unique image and to instill in its citizens a sense of pride and belonging:

• By protecting this patrimonial treasure and this place of tranquility located in the midst of our City

• By developing its cultural and recreational tourist potential while respecting its historical and environmental context

• By making this community asset available to all
